Gryphs' genes work pretty much just as they do in the real world.
The card that the figures come with only scratches the surface of what's going on. Some genes are hidden and require breeding or cross breeding to discover. There are recessive traits and bizarre interactions but all are predictable based on the same principles that apply to real-life breeding.
